What We Do
The walking path follows the old Ma & Pa Railroad bed where possible and connect a number of fragmented trails that currently run along the stream. The result will be a continuous 3-mile path from the Jones Falls Trail at the Stieff Silver trailhead up to Northern Parkway. Follow us on facebook for updates on bridge construction.
Environmental & Community Activities
The focus of FSR is to preserve the Stony Run Stream Valley. This means restoring and protecting the environment for the local community–both human and natural.
FSR has organized trash cleanups and restoration projects along Stony Run. As we grow, our activities will include more clean ups, invasive species removal, plantings of trees and native plants, water quality monitoring, path maintenance and more.
History & Tours
We offered our first walking tour in November 2011, led by Alexander Mitchell, Vice President of the Baltimore chapter of the National Railway Society. The tour focused on the historical Ma & Pa Railway that went through Wyman Park on the way to York, PA in the first half of the 20th century. Future tours will cover history, culture, nature, and more.
